How SAVD handles your data

What we collect

Using SAVD involves the following information:

• Your email address, used for account creation and sign-in (handled by our authentication provider, Supabase)
• A username and optional display name, if you set them
• The games you add to your library, their status (played, playing, want to play, dropped), and your ratings
• Your Favourite Four game selections, if you choose to set them
• Your Gaming DNA - a taste profile calculated from your ratings and library
• Who you follow, and who follows you
• Any reviews you write for games
• Your public profile content (username, display name, Favourite Four, Gaming DNA, reviews), only if you explicitly choose to make your profile public

How it's used

This information is used only to provide SAVD's own features: maintaining your library and ratings, calculating your Gaming DNA, and - only if you turn your profile public - showing your Favourite Four, Gaming DNA, and any reviews you've published to other people at your public profile link. Your full library and exact ratings are never shown publicly. The one exception: if you publish a review for a game, your current rating for that specific game may be shown alongside that review. Ratings for games you haven't reviewed always remain private. If you delete the review, that rating is no longer shown publicly; if you clear the rating, the review remains but shows no rating; and if your profile goes private, both the review and that rating disappear from public view until you make your profile public again.

Reviews

You can write a short public review for a game you've marked as played or dropped. A review is only visible to anyone else if your profile is public - while your profile is private, your reviews are still saved and you can still edit or delete them, but no one else can see them. A public review can appear on the game's own page, on your public profile, and in the Feed of people who follow you. Reviews are plain text; we don't moderate or analyze their content.

Following

You can follow other public profiles, and other public profiles can follow you. Your followers/following lists only show accounts that are currently public - a private account never appears in anyone's public followers or following list, even if a follow relationship exists. Your Feed shows recent public reviews from people you follow whose profiles are currently public. Discover's "From people you follow" section works the same way: it's based only on public reviews and current ratings from people you follow whose profiles are public. Discover's "For your taste" section uses only your own library and ratings, never anyone else's private data.

Game search and the shared game catalogue

When you search for a game, SAVD looks it up via IGDB and may add it to SAVD's own shared catalogue of game metadata (titles, covers, genres, release years) so it can be found and recommended in the future. We do not store who searched for a game, or the search terms themselves - only the game information itself is kept.

Infrastructure we use

SAVD is built on the following third-party services, each of which processes data as necessary to provide its part of the application:

• Supabase - hosts our database and handles authentication
• Vercel - hosts the application itself
• IGDB / Twitch - the source of game metadata (titles, covers, genres, release years) used when you search for and add games
• Resend - sends account emails (sign-up confirmation, password reset)
• Sentry - receives error reports when something breaks, without your email, username, account id or anything you've written

Data retention

Account and application data is retained for as long as your account remains active. When you delete your account, your active SAVD account and the data it owns are removed. Games in SAVD's shared catalogue are not, because they don't belong to any one person. Infrastructure providers may retain backup, log, error-report or email-delivery data according to their own retention policies.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account yourself from Account → Delete account. This permanently removes your sign-in, profile, username, Library, ratings, Favourite Four, reviews, and all follows to or from you; your Gaming DNA is calculated from that data, so it goes too. It can't be undone, and your username becomes available to others. You can also contact us at the address below.
